Raymond Lee Smith, 59, passed away on September 19, 2017 in Spring, Texas. Ray was born on May 8, 1958 in Los Angeles, California to James Leon Smith and Joy Grice Smith. Ray grew up in Bastrop Louisiana. He graduated from Bastrop High School in 1977. He worked as a carpenter where he built and remodeled homes for 40 years.

Ray enjoyed spending time with his family, which was the most important thing in his life. He also enjoyed spoiling his grandkids. Ray always had a special way to make you smile and laugh because he wanted everyone to be happy all of the time. He will be missed dearly.

Raymond Lee Smith is survived by his children; Bradely Wilson(Denise), James Leon Smith, Deanee Raye(Dustin Davis), Zachary Dale Smith, Raymond Lee Smith II, Cody Robert(Cassandra Golden), Kassidy Dawn Smith, brother; Eric Tyson(Staci) of Calhoun Louisiana; grandchildren; Alyssa Danielle Sousa, Braden Cole Sousa, Bryce Wilson Sousa, Cayson Ray Sousa, James Leon Smith, Chloe Raye Davis, Jacob Wayne Davis, Karli Grace Davis, Kaiden James Smith, Autumn Kimberly Golden, and Kimberly Taylor Smith.
Ray was preceded in death by his father James Leon Smith, sister Regina Tyson, and brother Terry Tyson.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Judes.

  1. I did not know you good sir but Phil did. He said you were a better Father to him than his own. You have taught him so much about life and how to be a decent man. He told me about how great of a man you were to a group of kids that you considered to be your own. You were a light unto this world and now a light and an angel unto the stars.
